Guard of HonourAutumn colours from the ground at Bole Hill Quarry near Hathersage. This place has seen many changes and shows them all off through it's own display of beauty.
Shadow WoodsThe closest I have been to a mystical magical world. I feel I could have stepped further and been taken away forever into another time & place.
Winnats PassWinnats Pass typically marks the end of any cloud inversion in the Hope Valley. The steep sides of the collapsed cave hold back the tide of the mist, locking it deep in the valley below.
The Northern LightsAlways go back. No place deserves to be overlooked based on a single visit. The first time I ventured here the wind was knocking folk over and the rain poured down. Next time around it was beautiful clear skies with snow on the ground. A third time and the sky came alive.
ChuluA local guide rides along the Annapurna Trekking Circuit with the backdrop of Chulu behind.
Mountain of the MindBuachaille Etive Mor, the mountain which the mind imagines. This mountain consumes your thoughts as you drive along the road towards Glencoe. The morning started with unbearable wind and rain. After a couple of attempts to leave the car and being blown back in we decided to sit it out a while in the car. After an hour or so the weather broke just enough to be able to see changes in the light.
The Arts Tower, SheffieldThe Arts Tower is one of Sheffield's most iconic buildings and can be seen from most areas of the city. Part of the University complex it's a building which has dominated my memory of Sheffield. From time spent studying nearby or within the building itself, to time spent sitting in traffic peering up at it from afar. Winning image in the 2014 Landscape Photographer of the Year competition - Urban View Category
Distancity PanoramaA chimney far in the distance overlooking the city of Sheffield.
Two SistersGlen Coe will always take your breath away. In the sun, rain, mist or snow you can't help but stare in awe at the domainting landscape above your head.
Theatre of ImaginationFew landscapes create such intense atmosphere and intrigue as the woodland around the old quarry of Bole Hill.
Edge of The PassThe winding road meanders through the deep limestone gorge of Winnats Pass and disappears into the mist.
White FlightA moment of opportunity as the flocking geese take flight in a white out close to home.
PitchforkWoodland at Bole Hill Quarry draped in cobwebs and mist. I don't even know how to begin to try and translate this scene into words that convey it's atmosphere.
Worlds ApartTo comprehend some of the space beyond your own world or to understand your garden completely.
The Dragon's BackParkhouse Hill bathed in morning sunlight during winter. This landscape was once drowned as an atoll and now dominates everything around it.
Morning Above The CloudsA sheep awakens from rest above the cloud inversion in the Hope Valley during a beautiful autumnal sunrise. An image which brings a sense of familar calm.
The Road To Glen EtiveThe road to somewhere filled with all the dramatic landscapes that makes Scotland the wonder that it is.
FlamesAutumn trees set fire to the cold waters of Ladybower. Taken on a still and quiet October morning as the light mist left the water's surface. The water had a layer of algae which was distrupted only by the passing ducks. Until creating this photograph I had been to Ladybower many times and found it difficult to create a photograph which felt original or matching my sense of this place as a calm but functional landscape.
The Valley of FireDeep into the valley of Glencoe Two of the Three Sisters keep a watchful eye over us mortal creatures from above the mist. The day had been submerged in a light rain until the afternoon when the mist began to clear as if being pulled apart by the surrounding hills.
Winter's DustA distant flailing tree in the Nottinghamshire Countryside among the frost covered crops. I grew up near here while this tree was growing unnoticed for 31 years or more
Green SpainWandering around the hidden valleys near Montejaque in Grazalema, Andalucia.
Keskadale ValleyThe winding road from Buttermere to Keswick which seems to hover above the valley floor. Taken from the foot of Moss Force Waterfall.
Embrace The CurveHveir, Icelamd
Sv. Trije KraljiThe Polhograjski Dolomiti are famed for the beautiful settings of the churches among the mountains. It leads to many emergency stops in the car.
Crystal MorningA beautiful February morning among the grassland and woodland near Hathersage.
Scarred LandscapeSunflare as the setting sun descends behind Chrome Hill and illuminates it's characteristic spine. A closer look revelas the work tracks of walkers and sheep, like stitches in the landscape. Everytime I imagine this place, I imagine it's past life as a reef atol beneath the ocean with aquatic life and not farm life.
AldeyjarfossAldeyjarfoss from above. The beauty of this waterfall is beond imagination. The perfectly carved pool, the narrow spout and incredible rock formations make it a special place.
Ancient LightTime after time Pevril Castle enjoys basking in the autumn sun. and sitting pretty above the cloud inversion, Castleton, Derbyshire.
Divisions of Life and DeathFound beauty in a strangers garden. I guess they will never know.
ReticenceOwning the atmosphere of a morning on Lake Bled. A moment of calm and the start of a days toil.
